The new solar-powered Serenity 64 will make its debut in the water at the Miami International Boat Show on Virginia Key, starting Feb. 13. The luxurious Serenity 64 uses the power of the sun to provide a virtually limitless cruising range, with all the space and comforts of a large power catamaran.

Serenity Yachts, built in Turkey, can be highly customized by each individual owner, but the basic 64 has four VIP cabins, each with its own en suite head and shower, plus a crew cabin. The sophisticated interior was inspired by Ken Dowling, the former fashion director of Neiman Marcus. (The Serenity 74 was featured as a Fantasy Gift in the 2018 Neiman Marcus Christmas Book, for $7.1 million.)

The 64 has a light-weight, carbon-fiber hull, and is designed to eliminate a dependency on fossil fuel. Its 699 square feet of solar panels provide enough power to cruise indefinitely at 4 to 6 knots, while still providing power for all the ship’s systems. The yacht cruises with no engine noise, no smoke, no vibration and no carbon footprint.

“It is our goal to lead the industry in green technology while preserving the quality and comfort of the yachting experience,” said Brad Taylor, the executive director of Serenity Yachts.

The new Serenity 64 has a large aft deck; it’s protected overhead by the extension of the flybridge. It has two large aft settees and a dining table with an L-shaped settee to port and three occasional chairs. Two large walkways, port and starboard, lead down to the massive teak swim platform and tender.

Going forward, the salon has a super-sized galley to port with lots of counter space and stools for a breakfast or snack area. The helm station is forward to starboard, opposite more seating. A walkway leads to a large sun-lounging area on the foredeck, which takes advantage of the cat’s 31-foot beam.

The four staterooms are below, with two on each hull, plus a possible crew quarters in the bow. The flybridge has another helm station and a large sun pad.

Specs.: LOA: 64’0”; Beam: 31’0”; Draft: 3’6”; Disp. 48,000 lbs.; Fuel: 405 gals.; Water: 435 gals.; Power: 2×25 kW electric motors; 2×127.2 kW diesel motors.
