If you’re looking for a high-tech smart watch, Garmin’s new MARQ Captain will help you stay connected as well as help you navigate your boat. Garmin calls it a “luxury modern tool watch,” and it seems all of that.
The many tools on the MARQ Captain include a GPS (no surprise; this is a Garmin product, after all), a man-overboard button, wind speed, temperature, tidal information, coastal charts, port conditions, a regatta timer, music storage, Garmin Pay, and a heart-rate sensor, among other things. And the watch face is surrounded by a nautical blue color scheme.
The luxury touches include a Jacquard-weave strap made in the south of France for use in a saltwater environment. The watch case is made of brushed titanium case and it’s finished with seamless edges.
You can create your own look with the MARQ Captain to match your mood or style for the day. It comes with a QuickFit feature so you can swap out the straps, with no tools required. There are six different straps and bracelets (see picture above), including Italian vacchetta leather, brushed titanium, Jacquard-weave nylon, and performance silicone leather.
The Captain is one of five Garmin MARQ watches, each made for a specific activity. The others are Driver, Aviator, Adventurer, and Athlete. If you want all five, you can buy one of 100 numbered sets, all in a handmade solid-walnut box, for $10,000. The Captain by itself is $1,850. Read more:
