Sunreef Building New 60 Power Cat; Offers Solar-Electric Version

Sunreef Yachts is building its new 60 Power Catamaran in its factory in Gdansk, Poland, and plans to launch the large, luxury multihull this summer. The 60 has the same lines as Sunreef’s 70-, 80-, and 100-feet power cats.  The boat is powered by twin diesels, but a solar-electric version also is available.

Like its siblings, the 60 is built for long-range cruising. The company says it is “a versatile and modern motoryacht offering extreme comfort, seaworthiness and complete freedom for customization.”

The 60 can hold up to 12 passengers, and it’s made to be operated by the owner or by a crew. The basic accommodations on the lower level have four large cabins, two on each side, but two more, for crew, can be added on each side. They all have en suite heads.

From any angle, the 60 looks just plain massive. Its 35-feet-plus beam, more than half its length, creates enormous amounts of living and entertaining space throughout the yacht. The company calls the foredeck area a terrace, and that seems accurate enough (see the picture above). There’s lounging space there that would be hard to fill on most cruises. That’s true for the aft deck as well. Up top, the flying bridge is large enough for a spa pool, a dining area, and oversized sun pads.

The large teak swim platform lowers hydraulically into the water for access to watersports. The garage can hold a tender, jet ski and other water toys.

The salon is filled with natural light from windows all around; there’s also a skylight. A seating and dining area is on the port side; the galley is to starboard.

The basic 60 is powered by twin diesels; owners can choose from 300-hp up to 850-hp engines. But Sunreef also is offering the boat in an all-electric Eco version with solar  panels. See the diagram below for the details.

Specs.: LOA: 60’0”; Beam: 35’1”; Disp.: NA; Fuel: 2,641 gals.; Water: 211 gals.; Power: 2×300-hp diesels to 2×850-hp diesels.
