New 59-foot Evo: Push a Button for More Room

The new Evo R6 Open is a striking boat underway, bound to turn heads wherever it goes. But it really will get attention when it stops. (See the video below.)

Push a button and the boats “XTension” bulwarks fold out to increase the deck space by 40 percent in just 30 seconds. And the aft swim platform has a Transformer platform that extends out and manages to rotate 270 degrees to help with boarding, or diving, or water sports.

The 59-foot yacht, made in the Evo yard in Naples, is nothing if not versatile. It can hold 16 passengers out for a day’s excursion, but below it’s built for a longer cruise, with a dinette, an owner’s stateroom forward, two double berths for guests aft, and two heads.

But it’s up top that the new Evo shines. Take a look at the steel roll bar over the helm station, supported by two uprights. There’s a retractable Bimini that protects the captain and the front part of the cockpit.

And there’s sunning, lounging and entertaining space in every direction – on the forward sundeck, with facing seats at the bow, on the sunbathing island aft, and on the modular swimming platform all the way aft. The sundeck is large enough to hold a 9’ 3” tender.

The Evo R6 has a top speed of 35 knots and a range of 280 nm with Volvo IPS950 pod drives; IPS800s are a standard. The helm has a deadrise of 18 degrees at the transom.

Specs.: LOA: 59’0”; Beam: 23’0”; Disp.: NA; Fuel: 554 gals.; Water: NA; Power: 2xVolvo Penta 625-hp IPS800 pod drives, or 2×725-hp IPS950 pod drives. See the video below.
