Sunseeker Plans New Superhawk 55 Cruiser

Sunseeker just announced that it’s building a new Superhawk 55 luxury performance cruiser, the first Superhawk the British company has launched since 2009. The aggressively styled Superhawk 55 is built for sporty handling and blue-water performance, powered by twin 725-hp Volvo IPS950 pod drives.

The new Superhawk has the long, low profile of its predecessors, with a wraparound curved windshield. The new centered helm station is flanked by two navigators’ seats.

In a change from previous models, the lower deck houses a salon and galley amidships and two cabins fore and aft. The long hull-side windows providing light to the accommodation deck suggest forward movement, even when the boat is tied up at the dock.

The cockpit is built for a day in the open air, with large three-person sun pads, L-shaped corner seats that slide toward a table for dining out, and a central wet bar complete with a pop-up TV.

The aft sun pad conceals a large area for stowing toys for watersports. And the hydraulic swim platform lowers to reveal a garage that’s large enough for a 10’ 9” Williams 325 TurboJet tender.

Pantograph doors connect the cockpit to the side decks. On the foredeck, a large sun pad slides forward to reveal a high-low table and dining area.

Below, the interior features curved wood and lacquer finishes. In the lower salon, the galley is on the port side and a sofa and table are to starboard. The master stateroom is full-beam amidships and has sliding berths that can be made up as a double or two singles. Black lacquer panels frame the entire cabin.

The VIP guest cabin in the bow is almost as luxurious as the master. Both cabins have large en suite heads and showers.

Sunseeker estimates that the new Superhawk 55 will have a top speed of about 38 knots with the twin Volvos. It will be built with either an open or closed top version.
