Saxdor just unveiled plans for its new 400 GT, an aggressively styled, versatile cruiser with a low profile, large fold-down terraces and outboard performance.
The new Saxdor, built in Finland, will be ready later this year, and the company says it is designed for boaters “whether you are spending the day under the hot Miami sun or driving through a blizzard in Norway.”
It will turn heads with its modern Scandinavian look, almost vertical bow, and sleek cabin roof. It has windows all around, for 360-degree visibility, and sliding doors on both sides of the wheelhouse lead to the folding terraces that provide a large amount of extra social space stretching from the middle of the boat all the way back to the cockpit. The terraces have glass panels so you can have a view of the sea when they’re upright, as well as when they’re deployed.
Since the Saxdor has no side decks, the wheelhouse stretches across the full beam of 11’ 4.” There are seats for four people at the helm, and twin opening sun roofs provide more light and ventilation. A door on the port side of the helm leads to the foredeck, with a large seating area.
There’s a forward double cabin and a head with standing headroom of more than 6 feet. An optional kids’ cabin can be ordered under the companionway steps, plus a mid-cabin under the wheelhouse that can sleep two adults.
The new Saxdor has a twin-stepped hull. Power ranges from twin 300-hp Mercury outboards to twin 400-hp Merc outboards, with top speeds of 40 knots to more than 50 knots.
In appearance, Saxdors resemble Axopars, which also have headquarters in Finland but which are built in Poland. Saxdor was founded toward the end of 2019 by Sakar Matilla, who also was the founder of Axopar and several other boat companies.
