Sirena 58 Hits Home Run in U.S.

Sirena Yachts, the luxury Turkish builder, seems to have hit a home run in the U.S. with its 58. Indeed, it just launched its latest one headed here, to new owners in California. The latest (hull #58) is the 30th hull built for U.S. owners, representing more than half of all 58s built so far, and the yard is building seven more for American buyers.

Sirena initially introduced the 58 here at the Fort Lauderdale show in 2018, a semi-displacement yacht built for performance and easy living. The hull and exterior were developed by Germán Frers, the famed Argentine naval architect who designed his first boat in 1958; the interior was by Tomasso Spadolini, a highly regarded Italian designer.

The Sirena 58 has become popular here for a variety of reasons, including its 4’ 1” draft (meaning it can navigate most of the thin waters around south Florida and the Bahamas), its reliable shaft drive, its options for two or three luxurious cabins below, its lightweight, carbon-fiber superstructure and hard top, and its fast, comfortable ride. The beam of 17’ 7” provides a lot of living space inside and out.

Cruising speed with standard 670-hp Volvo diesels is 21 knots, top speed is 25 knots, and range is 850 nm at 10 knots. More powerful 900-hp Volvos are an upgrade.

“The Sirena 58 has been tailored to meet the needs of the U.S. market,” said Constantinos Constantinou, head of Sirena operations in North America. “In addition to the obligatory U.S. electrical system and appliances, the 58 comes with a very long list of equipment and items that come standard in the U.S. version. A couple of examples are larger-capacity generators, triple fuel filtration, tropical-capacity air conditioning, Stidd helm seats and much more.” He also said that Sirena buyers are generally experienced owners who “are looking for a yacht built to a higher standard.”

In fact, the Sirena 58 carries a Category A rating, the highest given to recreational yachts. It is said to have outstanding seakeeping ability. The lightweight hull, with a low center of gravity, is built with the high-tech, resin-infusion process.

The standard layout for the accommodations deck calls for two master suites, one in the bow, and the second (designed specifically for the American market) amidships. A private stairway connects the forward cabin to the foredeck.

For her part, Cagin Genc, Sirena’s CEO, says that the company’s growth in the United States has been “exponential” and that with the introduction of the company’s new 48 and 78, “we expect growth to continue in coming years.”
