Picchiotti is trying to touch a nerve to the past with its new line of Gentleman’s Yachts, starting with a 24 Meter (78’7”) model that it’s building in Viareggio, Italy.

The new Gentleman 24 is the start of a line of semi-displacement yachts with classic lines developed by Yacht Moments and Luca Dini Design, combining an aluminum hull with a glossy mahogany superstructure. The idea is to blend the charm of iconic gentleman’s yachts, going back to the 1920s and ‘30s, with modern technology.

Picchiotti is building a limited number of the Gentleman’s series. It’s already working on hull number two, and it can deliver a new yacht in 18 months from start to finish. Larger Gentleman’s yachts are on the drawing board, going up to 55 Meters (180 feet).

The new 24 has a full-beam owner’s stateroom on the lower deck, plus two guest cabins. An alternative layout has four cabins (a large owner’s plus three guests), all with separate heads. Either way, additional cabins for a captain and up to three crew are set in the bow.

The Gentleman 24 also has options all the way aft. A beachclub version has a large transom that can be closed off with a sliding glass door. With the door open, the entire area is open to the water for lounging and water sports. A tender and crane are positioned aft on the main deck.

In the garage version, the tender and crane are on the open space aft on the lower deck The custom tender is built to resemble the aesthetics of the mothership.

Power comes from twin 1,400-hp MAN V12 diesels, with a cruising speed of 16 knots and top speed of 19 knots. The yacht’s beam is 21’ 3”.

We don’t have other details now, but we’ll be following the new Gentleman’s series as it progresses.
