If you want to be the first superhero on your dock, take a look at the new Stormy Knight. It’s a sleek jet ski-like craft that looks like a Batboat and is a joint production of Hollywood and Silicon Valley that goes 85 mph and costs $250,000.
The new hi-tech 14-foot “hyper vessel” is built by Wayne Enterprises, a luxury brand from Warner Bros., and T3MP3ST, a Silicon Valley sports company. It’s officially called the Maverick GT Stormy Knight, and the Bruce Wayne website says “It’s crafted by a team who are masters of their trade, with a long history of boat building, electrical systems, software and a passion for water sports.”
If you’re not up to speed on your superhero history, the first Batman comic appeared in 1939, and starts with Bruce Wayne who became Batman after his parents were killed by a small-time criminal when he was 8 and he dedicated his life to fighting crime.
The new Stormy Knight is made from a mix of carbon fiber and stainless steel and it’s sturdy enough to handle the often gnarly waters of the Pacific off the California coast. It weighs just 1,300 pounds and is a green speed machine, with a 100 kWh battery and a 350-hp electric motor, providing six hours of running time.
It can hold four people and responds to voice commands via an iOS or Apple smart watch, such as, “Hey, GT, come and get me.” The craft has a beam of 5 feet and a draft of 18 inches.
If you want one, don’t wait. The company will only make 27 of them.
