Greenline says its 48 hybrid cruiser is still fresh, even after ten years. Indeed, the Slovenian company says it has built 117 units of the 48 so far, and the 120th hull will be delivered later this year. Production is already maxed out at 12 for 2024.
The 48 comes in both coupe and flybridge version, to appeal to different owners. But both have a forward master cabin, which has proved popular, and a safe, open plan with no steps between the cockpit and the large salon.
“We always wanted Greenline Yachts to do things differently than other yacht builders, so we’ve focused on responsible yachting and innovation throughout our range,” said Vladimir Zinchenko, the company’s owner and CEO. “I’ve always seen longevity as a sign we’re doing both those things right, because it means that our boats are making and keeping owners happy.”
The Greenline 48 was originally launched at the Düsseldorf show in 2014 as a gentleman’s cruiser aimed at experienced powerboat owners and former sailors. The smart design started with a hull with a relatively broad, shallow forefoot. The accommodations include two guest cabins with sliding beds so an owner can switch from a twin to a double, depending on the guests on board. Each one has an en suite head with shower. Greenline also offers the option for a self-contained crew cabin aft, in place of the large lazarette.
The galley is aft in the salon, a popular location, where it can serve the cockpit through an opening window and sliding door. Underway, the low center of gravity makes for greater stability and a comfortable ride.
The coupe version of the 48 makes it an appealing choice for the Great Loop or the southeastern parts of the U.S., where it can slide under a lot of bridges. It also holds an array of nine solar panels as standard, generating more than 15kWh of power daily. With its large battery capacity, the Greenline 48 eliminates the need for a generator.
Owners can opt for the builder’s proprietary H-Drive hybrid propulsion system, which combines twin 24kW electric motors with two 250-hp diesels engines (or two 370-hp upgrades). The 48 can cruise up to 25 nm at 5 knots in a totally silent electric mode. The diesels take over for faster speeds of up to 24 knots.
