The 2024 Ft. Lauderdale boat show, known as FLIBS in the marine trade, kicks off next Wednesday, October 30 at noon. The show is America’s largest in-the-water show and will have more than 1,300 boats on display ranging from small personal watercraft to 300-foot mega-yachts.
The show runs through the weekend and show management expects more that 100,000 people to attend. FLIBS is truly an international show. You will find boat brands on display from the four corners of the world and from the most prestigious builders.
An all-powerboat show, you will find the latest designs and some new radical looks from Europe and Asia that are changing the face of yachts being sold in this country. Plus you will find more outboard powered cruisers than ever before and muscle-boats that have as many as five engines bolted to their transoms.
Boat builders around the world are responding to global warming and the need to reduce carbon emissions by innovating eco-friendly power plants in boats of all sizes. You’ll fine all-electric monohulls and catamarans, hybrid diesel-electric cruising boats, diesel outboards that can run on biofuel and even new hydrogen fuel cell systems.
Ashore, there are acres upon acres of tents with exhibits from gear and equipment manufacturers, charter companies and marine service companies. If you can think of anything related to the marine environment and boating, you’ll find it displayed at FLIBS.
The show turns the whole city of Ft. Lauderdale into a festival of yachting so the nightlife along the beach and up and down Las Olas Blvd. is electric. You will hear languages from all over the world as yachting enthusiasts flock the show and spend their evenings partying.
If you are looking for a new boat or need stuff for your existing boat, FLIBS is the place to be.
