Twenty two years ago, Italian Olympic sailor and yacht designer Luca Satella had a vision for starting a boat building enterprise that would break all the old molds and disrupt the conventions of European yachting. The result was Bluegame Yachts.

In partnership with naval architect Lou Codega, Bluegame created a series of day boats, express cruisers and motor yachts that were unlike anything on the market and, in way, set the stage for the modern trends in European yacht design.

The new BG 64 that was launched this year carries all the DNA that has set Bluegame apart from the start. She has the look of a work boat but with an elegant difference, hence the label the builder likes to apply to it, a sport utility yacht.

“From the outset, our objective was clear: how do we bring the complete Bluegame experience into 64 feet without losing what makes our yachts unique?” explains Luca Santella, Bluegame’s head of strategy. “That became the guiding principle behind every decision.”

With an emphasis on outdoor living and being close to the water, the main social area of the boat is the aft cockpit. There is a huge swim platform on the stern and the side bulwarks fold down to create a waterfront piazza.

Forward, there is a second social area with a bench lounge and a second large sunning bed so families cruising together can do what they always do, group by generations.

The 64 is a three-cabin, three-head cruiser that has ample accommodations for a long summer cruise. A two-cabin version is also available that offers two VIP-style suites.

Bluegame turned to Volvo for the propulsion system and equips the 64 with twin D13 engines with IPS drives. The top end speed will be 28 knots with a fast cruising speed of 25 knots. With Volvo’s advanced JoyStick and IPS maneuvering functions, the 64 will be easy to steer and dock in close quarters.

In 2018, Bluegame joined the Sanlorenzo group and has expanded its range of cruisers and day boats. It now offers four different design ranges and a total of nine models between 42 and 83 feet.  The brand is represented in the U.S. by Sanlorenzo of the Americas in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida.
