In partnership with Axopar, the innovative Finnish builder of performance outboard-powered day boats and cruisers, the German firm Brabus offers their Shadow bespoke boats that exude swagger and attitude.
At the Ft. Lauderdale show, the new Shadow 1000 XC , with its Black Ops and carbon fiber look and powered by twin 500-horsepower Mercury Racing engines, almost seemed to growl as you walked by it at the dock.
Brabus’ stock and trade is taking luxury vehicles and transforming them into high-performance and unique products –think the Mercades’ AMG line of cars. The Shadow category applies this ethos to boats and has proven to be a success.
The Shadow 1000 has an eye-watering top end of over 60 knots and acceleration that will snap your head back. Riding on the Axopar 38 hull, the boat will climb onto a plane in seconds and will run in calm and mild conditions as if it were on rails.
These characteristics are true to what Brabus calls their “One Second Wow Mission.”
To emphasize the “swagger and attitude” of the boats, the hull and cabin exterior are all black and have plenty of exposed carbon fiber details. The seats are black and the cockpit and décor bear red accents to offset the Black Ops theme.

Inside the cabin, the builder uses pale veneers for cabinets and light fabric to create a dramatic and luxurious difference between the all-business exterior and the euro-modern accommodations. The helm is set up with twin racing-boat seats, a carbon fiber dashboard and twin Simrad 15-inch Glass Screens, also in black.
The Shadow 1000 has a small sleeping cabin with a double berth and head. A second cabin can be shoehorned in under the after deck.
This is not your everyday 38-foot coastal cruiser or party boat. The Shadow 1000 urges its owners to be unique, bold and as fast as a bat out of hell.
