The new SUMMIT 54, the flagship of a new brand from Kadey-Krogen, was just launched in Taiwan and performed just as planned in its initial sea trial. The 54 “performed flawlessly,” said Larry Polster, Kadey-Krogen’s vice president, “achieving her design parameters of a cruise speed of 23 knots and WOT speed of 26 knots.” This performance was all the more remarkable because the boat had no fewer than 15 people on board for the sea trial. Polster also said the SUMMIT 54 had little bow rise, stayed level in turns, and remained true to its design by Michael Peters, the…

Sirena, the Turkish builder of luxury yachts, just displayed its new flagship 88 long-range cruiser at the Düsseldorf show. Designed by Germán Frers, the Sirena 88 has a top speed of 25 knots and a cruising speed of 16 knots. Dialed back to 9 knots, it has a range of 2,100 nm; additional fuel tanks boost the range to 3,100 nm. A raised pilothouse design, the Sirena features the full-beam master stateroom on the main deck, and it has panoramic views. There’s a sitting area to port, and a fold-out balcony. And it has direct access to a private “dipping…
Prestige just introduced a groundbreaking new X70 cruiser at the Düsseldorf show, representing a major departure for the French builder. The new 70 is the first in Prestige’s X series (joining the yard’s Flybridge and S series) and it offers some new ideas about how to use and maximize space on board. The X70 does not have traditional side decks, for example. The side decks that usually are on the main deck level are up top, on the flybridge level, on the X70. And the flybridge is not a traditional flybridge, either. In addition to the walkaround area, it…
Solaris Power, based in Forli, Italy, is introducing its new 48 Lobster Flybridge, with more than a nod to traditional Maine-built lobster boats, at the Düsseldorf boat show, from January 18 to 26. Solaris previously had introduced a 55-foot lobster boat and a 48-foot open, which now has morphed into the flybridge version. Norberto Ferretti is one of the three founders of Solaris and he’s been a fan of lobster boats for many years, even when he was running the powerful Ferretti Group. “Among the many boats that I have conceived over the years,” he said, “I was especially smitten…
If you thought the original Axopar 37 was cool, take a look at the new version, being introduced this Saturday at the Düsseldorf boat show. The new boat actually is called the BRABUS Shadow 900, and it’s a collaboration between BRABUS, a German company that transforms luxury cars (think Mercedes-AMG) into even higher-end luxury performance vehicles, and Axopar, the innovative builder from Finland. For the Shadow 900, BRABUS starts with the platform for the Axopar 37 and then customizes it. “BRABUS Marine products are designed for a select group of boat owners who want to enjoy the very best exclusive…

The 26-foot, 3-inch boat has a top speed of 32 knots. At that speed, it has a range of one hour. Dialed back to 6 knots, the DutchCraft has a range of six hours. Designed in-house by DutchCraft, a sister company to Zeelander, the DC25 can be just about whatever you want it to be. It has a modular design, where parts can be swapped out for other parts, so it can serve as a dive boat,…
Aspen Power Catamarans is starting work on a new 35-foot C108 cruiser, with three private staterooms and Aspen’s trademark asymmetrical proa hulls, powered by one 200-hp Yamaha outboard and one 70-hp Yamaha outboard. Larry Graf, the founder, president and “lead adventurer” of Aspen Power Cats, says he will have a mockup of the new 35 at the Seattle boat show, from Jan. 24 to Feb. 1, with finished production models ready shortly after that. The new 35 has a beam of 10’ 8”, which adds 8 inches to Aspen’s earlier C107 model. The wider beam also adds interior volume and…
The new Sirena 58 Coupe will make its world debut at the Miami Yacht Show, starting Feb. 13. The latest entry from the high-end Turkish builder, the 58 Coupe is the little sister to the 58 Flybridge that is the most successful yacht in Sirena’s lineup. The Coupe was designed for the American market. Sirena says that many potential buyers said they wanted an express style yacht, so they could fit under Florida’s many bridges or cruise easily around the Great Loop. Still, the Coupe, designed by Germán Frers, has all the style and performance that distinguished the original flybridge…
Wally is launching its new head-turning 55-knot 48 Wallytender X at the Miami Yacht Show, starting Feb. 13. The beautiful new Wally, powered by four 450-hp Mercury Verado R outboards, is the performance-oriented sister to the inboard 48 Wallytender introduced this past fall. The original 48 Wallytender was powered by twin 480-hp Volvo IPS650 pod drives, and topped out at 38 knots. It was the first Wally produced since the Ferretti Group took over the company. For the U.S. market, Wally wanted a faster, outboard boat. “As a hotspot for the outboard yachting lifestyle, Florida is the perfect place to…
