New Low, Fast, Pretty, 63-foot Lynx Commuter from Zurn Yacht Design

Doug Zurn has done it again: Another pretty boat, from Zurn Yacht Design. The new 63-foot Lynx Commuter has most of Zurn’s traditional design elements, many dating back to the Shelter Island 38 Runabout that was launched more than two decades ago. Hull number one of the Lynx Commuter, a modern version of the low, fast, commuter boats that carried the rich and famous from their Long Island mansions to work on Wall Street in the 1930s, was designed as a tender for a superyacht, but subsequent hulls can function as a day cruiser or weekender in their own right.…

Doug Zurn Designs New 35-Knot Hylas M58, Another Classic Powerboat

Doug Zurn, one of the most prolific designers in the United States, has teamed up with Hylas Yachts to create a new Hylas M58 powerboat that seems to carry all of his signature lines for the traditional sailboat builder. The M58 actually is Hylas’ second venture into the powerboat market; it introduced a Hylas M44 at the Palm Beach show in March. Doug Zurn-Designed Duffield 58 with Downeast Lines Launched in Newport Beach, California

Marshall “Duffy” Duffield, the owner of Duffy Electric Boat Company, finally has the cruising boats of his dreams. His new Duffield 58, designed by Doug Zurn, of Zurn Yacht Design of Marblehead, Mass., was just launched in Newport Beach, California, and it’s a beauty, with Zurn’s trademark low profile, narrow beam, low CG and lightweight construction. As a result, the new Duffield, with a single 600-hp CAT C-12 diesel, mounted well aft with a V-drive to keep noise levels low, tops out at 27 knots and cruises at 18 knots.
