Twin Disc Launches Express Docking System

Twin Disc just introduced its new Express Joystick System that makes docking much easier for owners of shaft-drive boats. Indeed, the new system gives you fingertip control of your boat’s speed and direction from multiple stations on board. The Racine, Wisconsin, builder says the patented Express Joystick System simultaneously actuates and controls the engines, transmission and thrusters so you can move the boat in any direction. You just twist the knob, and the boat rotates on its center axis, giving you precise control while docking or maneuvering at low speeds. And the movements are seamless and instantaneous. The new system…

Hinckley Launches New Hybrid SilentJet

Hinckley just introduced its new SilentJet technology, a hybrid system it developed with Twin Disc that combines diesel and electric power. With the trademarked SilentJet system, you can cruise under electric power without any noise or diesel fumes at about 7 knots, or you can seamlessly transition to diesel power and cruise at 35 knots. Hinckley introduced the new system on its Picnic Boat 40 S, the only boat available with SilentJet so far. It’s not that Hinckley’s were exactly noisy to start with. Indeed, Hinckleys are among the most solid, well-built and exquisite boats made in the United States, and…

Twin Disc Makes It Easy to Maneuver the New Duffield 58. See Video

It’s not easy to maneuver a 58-foot, single-screw cruising boat around the docks in the best of circumstances. Add a wind or current or a narrow fairway, and well, it’s easy for the captain to look bad and really hard to look good. So, when Duffield Yachts was putting the finishing touches on hull number one of its Doug Zurn-designed Duffield 58 Down-East-style cruiser, the California company got a call from Palmer Johnson Power Systems, the distributor for Twin Disc. To make the boat more maneuverable, Twin Disc suggested using its MGX QuickShift transmission, EJS controls and Max Power hydraulic…

New, More Precise, Electronically-Controlled Power Steering from Twin Disc

Twin Disc’s new E-STEER power steering should make steering easier, less tiring and more precise on cruising powerboats. This state-of-the-art control connects the helm electronically to hydraulic-powered rudders, and reacts immediately to changes in speed with adaptive resistance. As speed increases, the helm becomes finer and more agile; Twin Disc says it’s like driving a luxury car. When you throttle back, the wheel is light and highly responsive. Adaptive resistance makes driving easier since the wheel doesn’t react to every single rudder movement. Driving becomes smooth and vibration-free; it’s easier to hold a steady course, particularly in a choppy sea.…

Twin Disc Makes Steering Easier

Just when you thought it couldn’t get much easier, Twin Disc has come up with a new electronic steering system to do exactly that. The electronic system, which the company calls “e-Steer,” does not have any of the problems often associated with purely hydraulic systems. Instead, the new e-Steer electronic helm is connected to the hydraulic-powered rudders by wires, reducing the possibility of leaks or loss of steerage. The new electronic system also has Twin Disc’s Speed Sensing technology, which gives the helmsman adaptive resistance – meaning the control of the wheel is firmer at full throttle and lighter at…
