CL Yachts, a new brand under the Cheoy Lee Shipyards umbrella, unveiled its first two yachts at the Miami Yacht Show – a CLB76 and a just-sold CLB72. The new owner of the 72 celebrated the sale with a champagne toast for his family and friends; he plans to cruise in Florida and the Northeast.

The new 72 (pictured above) is a four stateroom, four-head cruiser, with a two-berth crew cabin and head aft. It carried a listing price of $3.95 million. Powered by twin 1,000-hp Volvo diesels with IPS1350 pod drives, it has a top speed of 31 knots and a cruising speed of 23 knots.

CL is meant to be a new performance and luxury yacht brand from Cheoy Lee, the Hong Kong builder with a 130-year history. The new yachts are designed by naval architect Howard Apollonio. They have a resin-infused composite hull and they use carbon fiber to keep the hull strong but lightweight.

The 72 has many social areas throughout for easy living on board. The flybridge is protected by a hardtop. It has a double helm seat, an L-shaped settee on the starboard side with a table and an outdoor grill and fridge aft.

An outsized teak swim platform, which the company calls a “beach platform,” leads to the cockpit; it’s an aft outdoor lounge, complete with a four-person settee aft,  a table, and a wet bar. The area is protected by an overhang from the flybridge.

Moving forward, the elegant salon has an L-shaped settee to port, opposite an entertainment center. The galley is forward with a large L-shaped dinette/settee. On the lower accommodation deck, the master stateroom is full-beam midships; a large VIP stateroom is forward and two guest cabins are a bit aft.

Specs.: LOA: 76’9”; Beam: 19’8”; Draft: 5’0”; Disp.: 93,916 lbs.; Fuel: 1,180 gals.; Water: 294 gal.; Power: 2×1,000-hp Volvo Penta IPS1350 pod drives.
