Flat Earth Society Plans Cruise to Antarctica To Find the “Ice Wall” at the Edge of the Planet

You won’t want to miss this. The Flat Earth Society has just announced that it’s organizing a cruise next year to Antarctica’s “ice wall” that they say is at the edge of Earth. The ice wall, they believe, holds back the oceans.

They say the cruise, which will be “the biggest, boldest adventure yet,” will prove their belief that the earth is a flattened disk with the North Pole in the center and a towering wall of ice around the edge (see the rendering, above).

Members of the society, which dates to the 1800s, think they can find the ice wall in Antarctica. We don’t have any details about what type of ship they will use on their cruise, or what type of navigation equipment it will have on board. It’s worth noting that all modern charts and navigation aids, such as GPS, work because the Earth is – well, round.

Flat earthers think that images showing a curved horizon are fake and that pictures showing a round Earth taken from space are part of a vast conspiracy perpetrated by NASA and similar agencies.

On its website, the Society says it has proof that the Earth is flat because “the ocean always rises to meet eye level – which is impossible on a ball earth. The surfaces of bodies of water has been shown to be level.” Regarding astronauts who have traveled in outer space, as well as around the world, the Society says they “have been bribed or coerced into their testimonies.” Read more:
