Simrad just introduced its new Simrad Cruise chartplotter, which it says is the most intuitive chartplotter on the market. It’s designed for simple and straightforward navigation, with a user-friendly interface and a sunlight-viewable display. And it starts at just $399.

The new Simrad Cruise comes preloaded with U.S. coastal charts, a mounting bracket and a sonar transducer. It combines GPS features with depth-finding capability. You control it with a rotary dial and keypad, so that it’s easy to navigate through menus that give you the information you need – speed, depth, GPS location to course, battery level and temperature. You also can track your day’s boating with real-time performance data from Simrad TripIntel technology.

If you want maximum detail on the charts, you can choose from a wide range of optional mapping upgrades from C-MAP and Navionics that include such features as C-MAP Easy Routing. The Cruise transducer, meanwhile, provides CHIRP sonar with automatic depth tracking.

“We are dedicated to listening to our customers and giving them exactly what they want out of their marine electronics,” said Leif Ottosson, CEO, Navico Group. “Our product line includes multifuction displays and glass-helm systems designed for some of the most powerful navigation stations in the industry. However, many of our customers simply want an affordable and easy-to-use chartplotter for simple navigation that they can plug in and go cruising. For those boaters, we are pleased to launch Simrad Cruise.”

Simrad Cruise comes in 5-, 7- and 9-inch display sizes. It will be available through U.S. dealers this month. Read more:
