Nordhavn Owners Get Together in Anacortes, Washington, At Start of Cruising Season

Nordhavn owners like to get together with other Nordhavn owners. A shared spirit of adventure and pride of ownership go a long way. And, as it happens, this is the time of year when a lot of Nordhavn owners are starting their cruising season in the Pacific Northwest, cruising in the San Juans and the Gulf Islands or heading up the Inside Passage to Alaska.

So it’s not surprising that the second annual Nordhavns Around Puget Sound (NAPS) rendezvous last week at Cap Sante Marina in Anacortes, Washington, was a big success, drawing 19 boats plus seven sets of owners who came by car. (The picture above shows two Nordhavns heading for Anacortes.)

This rendezvous, and the first one last year, were largely organized by Kevin and Alison Jeffries, who own a Nordhavn 55, Red Rover. They got the idea after they attended Nordhavn’s 40th anniversary gala in Dana Point, California, and realized how much fun the owners had when they got together. The idea of “socializing and touring each other’s boats was appealing,” he said.

Last year, the rendezvous drew 11 boats and four sets of owners without boats. This year there were five repeat owners, plus many others. The long weekend at Anacortes was casual, with a potluck dinner on Friday night, a steak and chicken affair on Saturday, and everyone volunteering their ovens for baked potatoes and their fridges for salads and desserts. A party barge with barbeques helped.

Nordhavn’s next big event on the West Coast is the Taco Run from Seattle to Mexico. Boats will leave Seattle in mid-September for leg one, arriving at Dana Point in time for the Nordhavn Film Festival in October. More boats will join the fleet for leg two down the coast to Mexico in late October. Read more:
