Big New Carver 52 Command Bridge: Built for Cruising Comfort

The new Carver 52 Command Bridge, the flagship of the Carver fleet, takes some cues from European yachts in maximizing space to make cruising and entertaining easy. The blunt bow, for example, creates more space in the forward VIP stateroom on the accommodation deck, as well as providing for an inviting lounging and sunbathing area on the foredeck. The Carver 52 also has a staircase from the salon to the large, full-beam master stateroom amidships, providing a degree of privacy usually found in much larger yachts.

With three staterooms, two heads, a light-filled salon and a protected flybridge, the Carver 52 can hold a crowd; there’s room for everyone in the family for cruising, and more room for a lot of friends for entertaining underway or at the dock. And the twin Cummins diesels use V-drives, which also save space, while delivering efficient cruising speeds in the mid-20-knot range.

The cockpit is one social area, with seating across the transom, except for an opening on the starboard side for access to the swim platform. Large glass doors open wide to the salon, with the galley to port. Down two steps, it has an L-shaped counter, two-burner cooktop and a double-basin stainless steel sink.

With a rich cherry wood interior and 7’ 4” of headroom, the salon is the Carver’s main social space. A U-shaped settee and table on a pedestal are to port, with a straight lounge settee to starboard; the seating is all Ultraleather. The stairs leading to the master are also on the starboard side, a bit aft of the settee. A lower helm station is optional.

Up top, the flybridge has the helm to starboard and a settee forward to port. A large U-shaped settee is aft to port, with a table. The flybridge is covered with a hardtop, which can be enclosed with isinglass for weather protection.

Below, on the accommodation deck, the master has a centered queen berth and lots of storage. The master head is large and has a stall shower. The VIP stateroom forward has a queen-sized berth with walking-around room. It shares the second head, also with a stall shower, with the third cabin, which is on the starboard side with two berths.
