Prestige is launching its new 420 Fly, an upscale, contemporary, French-styled cruiser, at the Newport (Rhode Island) International Boat Show, starting Sept. 12. Powered by twin Cummins diesels, the two-stateroom Prestige is said to have a top speed of 30 knots, and a range of 210 nm at its cruising speed of 22 knots.

The new Prestige is filled with light woods and colors, and lots of natural light in the salon from its large side windows and sliding glass doors aft. It has more than enough seating, lounging and sunning areas on the flybridge, the cockpit, the foredeck and in the salon to hold a crowd, or provide private space for anyone on board.

Up top, the flybridge can be covered by a Bimini. The helm is to port, with a single seat, and a sun lounge is to starboard. Moving aft, an inviting, L-shaped settee and table are to starboard, just aft of an upper wet bar.

A large teak swim platform leads to the aft deck, which is protected from the weather by the overhang from the flybridge. There’s seating aft, with a table, and a multi-panel sliding glass door leads to the salon.

The galley is aft to port in the salon, and  a U-shaped settee with a high-low table is forward. A smaller settee is to starboard, just aft of the two-person helm seat. The lines are clean and modern; the colors are all light and warm.

Below, the master stateroom is amidships, with a double bed and lots of walking around space; a makeup table is to port. The guest cabin, also with a double bed, is forward. The owner has two choices here: A single-head version, between the two cabins on the port side, or two heads, with the second on the starboard side. In the single-head version, the space on the starboard size can be used for a washer/dryer, extra storage or whatever the owner has in mind.

In keeping with the current style, the Prestige 420 has a large sun pad lounge on the foredeck. The sidedecks have high stainless rails for safe cruising and movement around the boat.

Standard power comes from twin 380-hp Cummins diesels. Twin 425-hp Cummins are optional. They are married to V-drives to save space. And the boat has fingertip joystick controls to make low-speed maneuvering and docking as easy as possible.  Prestige is part of the massive Beneteau Group.

Specs.: LOA: 42’10”; Beam: 13’5”; Draft: 3’7”; Disp.: 22,928 lbs.; Fuel: 309 gals.; Water: 112 gals.; Power; 2×380-hp Cummins. Optional: 2×425-hp Cummins.
