New, Prize-Winning UGO Waterproof Dry Bag that Floats

The new UGO Tablet, a waterproof dry bag that floats, just may be a better mousetrap. Indeed, it was just recognized as the best new product for boating operation and safety at the Newport International Boat Show.

With the UGO, you don’t have to worry about dropping your cellphone in the water, or getting your key fobs, cash and credit cards wet. The UGO is 100 percent waterproof. It’s built with three high-tech layers on the outside, plus a flotation layer to keep it from sinking. In any event, it is waterproof up to 20 feet below the surface.

The company says the UGO Tablet is the only small-profile waterproof dry pack with uZIP zipper technology, which is key to keeping water out. The zipper, made by German engineers, uses injection-molded polymer teeth.

If you want to take pictures on, or under, the water, the UGO has a clear window on the back side so you can operate the camera on your cell phone without worrying about getting it wet.

The UGO has straps so you can wear it across your body, over your shoulder or around the waist. It’s hands-free. It comes in three sizes: the basic tablet for a phone is $129; for a tablet, $159, and then there’s a tablet XL size for $179.
