The new, sporty, low-profile Azimut Atlantis 45 is making its U.S. debut at the Fort Lauderdale show as a successor to the company’s 43. The new two-cabin, two-head, light-filled Azimut is powered by twin 440-hp Volvo IPS600 pod drives, giving it a top speed of 33 knots and a cruising speed of 28 knots.

And it’s a boat that’s made for enjoying the sun. It has a large sunpad on the foredeck for lounging or a picnics, while another sunpad all the way aft adds a separate lounging and social area. The windshield and side windows are all large, and an overhead sunroof adds more natural light to the salon and helm. Visibility is excellent all around.

You walk into the cockpit on either side of the transom from the large swim platform. It can be lowered, and the transom lifted up, to reveal a garage large enough to house an eight-foot tender.

The cockpit has a bench seat aft and a grill and sink on the port side, to make outdoor entertaining easy. Inside, the salon has a large L-shaped lounge on the starboard side, with an expandable table on a sparkling stainless-steel pedestal. A forward seat to port holds two passengers, while there are two matching helm chairs to starboard.

Down four steps, the galley and dinette provide another social area. The master cabin is forward with a queen bed, while the guest cabin is in the middle of the boat with two beds that can be joined to form a double bed. Both cabins have en suite heads and showers.

The Azimut 45 is designed by Neo Design, and it has the company’s signature contemporary Italian styling. The hull shape is a moderate V with a 15-degree deadrise at the transom. Volvo’s IPS joystick makes docking sure and easy.
