New 32-Foot Zar Formenti “Ferrari of RIBs” Now in U.S.

Here’s a new high-performance, high-style, Italian-built RIB that’s much more than a traditional RIB and was just introduced to the U.S. market at the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show.  The Zar Formenti 95 SL, says company founder Piero Formenti, “is like the Ferrari of RIBs in Europe.”

It’s easy to see why he thinks so. This newest and largest of the Zar Formenti RIB line has seating in the bow and stern for 12 as a day cruiser, and it can sleep two in a cabin below with a stand-up head and shower. It also has an outdoor galley on the aft deck with a two-burner propane grill, sink and fridge. Definitely not your typical RIB. It tops out at 60 knots, and cruises at 42 knots, with power from two 350-hp Suzuki Dual Prop outboards.

Formenti has been making high-end RIBs since 1992. The new 95 SL has a deep-V fiberglass hull for performance and stability. The patented hull has a tunnel on each side, to deflect water back under the tubes for a dry ride, and sharp chines for lift and less drag.

The boat’s modular deck construction provides upholstered seating for six at the bow, with a table that can be transformed into a sun pad. The aft deck also has a C-shaped lounge with a table and the sun pad option.

Two ergonomic race-style seats are at the helm, facing a full Raymarine Axiom 12-inch chartplotter display. A T-top offers protection from the sun. A door on the starboard side leads to the cabin below. The fully equipped Zar Formenti at the Fort Lauderdale show cost $279,000.
