Windy, the high-quality Swedish builder, just announced that it will bring its boats into the United States, working with Nautical Ventures, based in Fort Lauderdale.

Windy was founded in 1966, with the stated goal of delivering “the best built boats in the world.” Its fleet of performance cruisers now runs from 27 to 46 feet. The first boat to enter the U.S. market will be its R44SX Blackhawk (see rendering, below), displayed at this fall’s Lauderdale show.

For his part, Roger Moore, the CEO of Nautical Ventures, praised the “European-built Windy Boat brand with its reputation for quality and unmatched driving qualities.” He said his dealerships, in Fort Lauderdale, Palm Beach, Dania Beach, Tampa Bay and Sarasota, “have a reputation for launching innovative European boat lines into the U.S. market.

The 46 Chinook sport cruiser (see picture at top) is the flagship of Wendy’s cruising fleet, and it’s a low, sleek, contemporary yacht built for offshore performance. With twin 435-hp Volvo IPS600 pod drives, it has a top speed of 40 knots.

The Windy 46 is a three-stateroom, two head boat, with lots of places to gather underway or at the dock. You can walk on board from the teak swim platform to the large cockpit; it features an aft-facing sun pad.

The aft part of the helm deck is open, and an upscale U-shaped lounge and folding table are on the starboard side, a galley to port. A super-sized sunroof lets in a lot of light and air. Forward, the captain’s seat is on the starboard side, next to a three-person seat so the guests can enjoy the view forward. The Volvo joystick makes docking easy, and the standard Humphree Interceptors provide the trim.

Below, an L-shaped sofa and table are to starboard, and a full galley is to port. The owner’s cabin is forward, with an en suite head and shower; the two other cabins, sharing a head and shower, are aft.
