Technohull Launches New 80-knot RIB

You probably don’t want to take it on the Great Loop, but it sure would be fun to drive the new Technohull 47 Omega flagship around Miami, or Catalina, or Block Island. Wherever you’re going, you probably won’t be late. Indeed, with four 450-hp Mercury Racing outboards, the new Technohull is said to hit a top speed of about 80 knots.

Technohull has been making high-end RIBs in Greece since 2004. The 47 combines high-speed performance with a superyacht finish, and it has the company’s largest cabin yet; it includes a large double V berth, a full-height shower and lots of room for clothing and storage.

The new boat has more room on deck, at the helm and in the cockpit than you could find in earlier Technohulls. It also has quality leather, exotic veneers and Corian countertops for a luxury look.

The decks are full walkaround, leading to a large sun pad and seat forward. The ergonomically designed helm has digital switching to control the boat’s systems, a solid-state Quantum radar, a joystick for low-speed maneuvering and shock-mitigating seats for higher speeds.

You can entertain up to a dozen people on board; the aft deck has a wet bar with a fridge, optional cooktop, espresso machine and even a watermaker. And you can relax there on a large sofa in hand-finished leather that can be converted into a sun pad.

The 47 has the company’s tank-tested Dynastream hull with both a deep V and two steps to provide lift. Optional power includes two of the new 600-hp V12 Mercury Verado outboards.

Specs.: LOA: 45’2”; Beam: 11’8”; Draft: NA; Disp.: 12,125 lbs.; Fuel: 317 gals.; Water: 47 gals.; Power: Up to 4×450-hp Mercury Racing outboards, or 2×600-hp Mercury V12 Verado outboards. Read more:
