Bering Yachts just unveiled its plans for an all-new 72-foot explorer yacht with a range of more than 5,000 nm at 7 knots. Powered by twin 326-hp Cummins, the Bering 72 has a top speed of 10 knots.

The company says the new 72 is “a true modern classic of the steel-hulled explorer yacht perfect for long family expeditions as well as shorthanded cruising.” The hull is made of steel; the superstructure of aluminum.

The 72 is part of Bering’s Exploration series, with models from 70 to 109 feet. Built in Antalya, Turkey, the new 72 is a rugged three-deck cruiser with the clean, modern interior similar to that of a European motoryacht.

The salon has a dinette with a built-in U-shaped settee to starboard. An entertainment center is to port with a 48-inch, pull-out TV and two wine cabinets. The galley is forward and is full width, with all the appliances found in a high-end home.

Forward of the galley, the pilothouse is raised, with panoramic tempered glass windows, a day head to port and an L-shaped settee with a table to starboard. The foredeck has a large sun lounge for an extra social space.

The flybridge has a hardtop for protection from the weather, an outdoor galley and a teak deck. The cockpit also has space for al fresco dining, while the large swim platform opens to the garage with room for one large or two small tenders.

The accommodations deck below can be heavily customized, but the standard layout calls for a master and two guest staterooms, although there can be as any as six staterooms plus a crew cabin aft by the engine compartment.

In the standard configuration, the master is full-beam forward, with two wardrobe closets and a large en suite head and shower. The guest cabins are midships, port and starboard, also with en suite heads and showers.

Specs.: LOA: 72’; Beam: 19’7”; Draft: 5’9”; Disp.: 260,145 lbs.; Fuel: 4,500 gals.; Water: 660 gals.; Power; 2×326-hp Cummins diesels. Read more:
