Burger, the famed Wisconsin builder, just announced that it’s working on a new 66-foot aluminum motoryacht with a design by Vripack.

We don’t have too many details yet, but the new Burger is meant to build on the success of the 48 cruiser that Burger launched in 2018. The 66 is being developed as a mid-sized flybridge yacht, with three staterooms, all with en suite heads, and a large salon and open galley.

The new Burger also will have a forward seating area, a large aft deck for al fresco dining and relaxing, and a hydraulic swim platform that’s large enough to hold a tender while offering immediate access to the water and watersports.

Burger will work with owners to customize much of the new yacht. “We want to give people options so they can create a yachting experience unique to their ambitions,” says Jim Ruffolo, president and CEO of Burger Boat.

Vripack, the highly regarded Dutch naval architects and designers, partnered with Burger on the new 66, and used its patented Slide Hull, first employed on commercial vessels and then adopted to motoryachts. It offers high efficiency at medium planing speeds with excellent seakeeping abilities. The idea is that water flows along the hull, just like it would on a playground slide, reducing pounding and bow rise.

You can walk on the Burger 66 via steps on the starboard side of the swim platform up to the aft deck, where a large settee stretches across the transom and up the port side. The aft deck is protected by the overhang from the flybridge.  A glass door leads to the open salon. An L-shaped settee is to port with a table; a dining table is opposite.

The home-sized galley is forward to starboard, and there’s a settee on the bow, offering panoramic view of the water ahead.

Below, the master cabin is full-beam amidships; the VIP cabin is forward with an island berth; a guest cabin with twin beds is a bit aft on the starboard side.

The flybridge can be fully enclosed for weather protection. The helm is centered with a companion seat to starboard. A large U-shaped settee is aft on the port side with a large table.
