Silent-Yachts is working on a new solar-electric 62 tri-deck catamaran, and the innovative Austrian builder has already sold three of them, two to Americans and one to a European.

The new 62 is based on the platform of Silent’s popular 60, but with two additional feet aft and with the third deck, providing another level of space. The new yacht also will have a lot of carbon fiber to reduce weight.

The self-sufficient cat has 42 solar panels, providing 17kWp, two 250kW electric motors and a battery capacity of 210kWh. The yacht has a cruising speed of 6 to 8 knots and a trans-oceanic range with no noise or emissions.

It can cruise efficiently for 100 miles a day for weeks. All on-board systems can operate without running a generator. The genset is used to recharge the batteries in case you want higher speeds for a long period of time, or if weather conditions are unfavorable for several days.

The new 62 has the extra deck instead of the flybridge that is standard on the 60. And it comes with three options. The open skylounge version has a bar, galley, a dining table and bench seating for up to a dozen people, several sofas and an upper helm. The closed skylounge version has a bar, a second galley, a dining table with a 360-degree panoramic view and the helm. Aft of the skylounge is a terrace with several sofas and lounging areas. The owner’s suite version has a luxury stateroom with en suite head and 360-degree views. Aft of the suite is as private terrace with sofas and lounging areas.

The cat has Silent-Yachts’ high performance hull with a reverse bow and longer waterline. A signature detail: The long window stripe along the sidewall of the hull.

You can order the boat with several layouts, from three to six staterooms, all with en suite heads. The salon is vast, with wide windows on the main deck, and there are outside social areas aft and on the foredeck. An optional hydraulic swim platform can hold a tender up to 13’ 7” and additional water toys can be stored on the bridge deck.

Base price for the Silent 62 is 2,427,000 Euros, or about $2,870,243.

Specs.: LOA: 62’0”; Beam: 29’5”; Draft: 3’0”; Disp.: 30 tons; Fuel: 500 gals.; Water: 264 gals.; Power: 2x250kW electric motors.
