Numarine Launches 37XP with 6,000-nm Range

Numarine, the Turkish builder, just launched the first hull of its 37XP expedition yacht in Istanbul. It’s now on its way to the south of France for its showing at the Cannes Yachting Festival, starting Sept. 7.

With a steel, full-displacement hull, the Numarine 37XP is powered by twin 800-hp CAT diesels, giving it a top speed of 14 knots and an ocean-crossing range of 6,000 nm at 8 knots (it holds 13,472 gallons of fuel).

The 121-foot yacht is larger than what we usually cover, but I think it’s interesting to see what’s out there in the long-range, expedition yacht category. In this case, the Numarine offers luxurious cruising to a large number of people. Indeed, there are six staterooms sleeping 12, plus crew quarters.

And the Numarine 37XP represents a move to ever-larger expedition yachts. Omer Malaz, the Numarine founder and chairman, said that clients wanted the 121-footer. “It was definitely the demand of the market that pushed us toward the 37XP,” he said.

The owner’s stateroom on the upper deck is full beam and has a large sleeping area with a super-king-sized bed backed by large wardrobes that create a personal dressing area. The bed faces aft, where sliding glass doors offer a view across the deck onto the horizon.

You walk into the stateroom from the upper lobby passing another wardrobe area with a safety box, mini bar and dumb waiter. A make-up table is on the port side with a small seating area; a 65-inch TV is mounted on the wall, near a second seating area on the starboard side.

The owner’s head has a glass-fronted shower with a rain shower, his-and-hers sinks and a bidet. The counter tops, floor and walls are marble.

Hull number three of the Numarine 37XP will go to a client of Denison Yachting in the  U.S., and it will have a special barbeque, beach club, custom full-service bar, movie theater, and gym. There’s also a Jacuzzi on the flybridge.

The boat deck holds a 29-foot tender and three jet skis. All this means that you don’t have to rough it on board an expedition yacht.

The Numarine’s hull was designed by Umberto Tagliavini of Rapallo, and the interior by Hot Lab of Milan.
