Burger, the fabled custom and semi-custom builder, just launched its new 50 Cruiser, with an aluminum hull designed by Vripack and power from twin Volvo 600-hp IPS800 pod drives. The boat’s now for sale at Burger’s yard in Manitowoc, Wisconsin, on Lake Michigan.

The Burger 50 comes with an interior by De Basto Designs in Miami. It has two staterooms, with en suite heads, below, and a large open salon and galley with unobstructed views all around.

The boat was designed by Vripack naval architects in the Netherlands. It has Vripack’s patented Slide Hull, which reduces pounding and offers less water resistance. The Slide Hull has a larger fore body to prevent broaching in following seas while providing more volume for interior accommodations.

The twin Volvos give the Burger 50 a cruising speed of 26 knots, a top speed of 31 knots, and a range of 300 nm. They provide joystick maneuvering, and the boat has Volvo’s Dynamic Positioning System, Volvo’s Clear Wake System, which directs exhaust gases to above-water discharge at idle speed, and Volvo’s Interceptor trim system. The boat also comes with a Seakeeper 6 gyro stabilizer.

The galley is aft in the salon, with a two-burner stove, a fridge/freezer, convection microwave and dishwasher. The galley’s on the starboard side; a large U-shaped dinette with a custom table is to port. The helm has Volvo’s Glass Bridge with two 17-inch display screens and an adjustable helm seat. An electric sunroof overhead and opening windows forward on both sides let in lots of fresh air.

Aft, the hydraulic swim platform lowers to launch and retrieve a tender and to offer easy access for swimming and water sports. It also has an innovative feature: When the swim platform is lowered, a stair automatically folds out of the platform, eliminating the large drop between the transom stair and the lowered platform.

A barbeque is built into the transom above the swim platform. A storage garage is under the grill surface.

Below, the owner’s stateroom is full-beam amidships, with a queen bed and a private seating area. The guest stateroom is forward and it can have a queen bed that can be separated with a slide to create two singles.
