Cormorant Building Long-Range Cruisers in Poland

A new player on the extended voyaging scene, Cormorant Yachts in Gdansk, Poland, is working on two new cruisers, a 55 and a 69, designed for owners who want to spend weeks at sea while enjoying the comforts of home.

The semi-displacement yachts are called the COR555/690, the numbers indicating the length. The Cormorant 69 is basically an elongated 55, although Cormorant emphasizes that it can heavily customize any of its boats. The Cormorant fleet goes up to 88 feet.

Cormorant has its own yard with skilled craftsmen in the Port of Gdansk, so it can control a high quality of production. The 55 and 69 are meant to provide comfortable coastal and ocean passages for families or couples. The boats have a low center of gravity for stability; a high bow will shed water in a stormy sea.

On the 69, the flybridge has an upper helm, a dining corner and a sun lounging area. A boat deck aft can hold a tender.

The salon on the main deck has a fully equipped galley and dining area and several comfortable armchairs, plus a day head. The helm station can be open to the salon or separated, and there are armchairs for the captain and navigator. Doors lead from the wheelhouse to the decks on both sides. Below, the 69 has three staterooms with en suite heads, plus an office space.

Standard power comes from twin 330-hp John Deere diesels, giving a top speed of 20 knots and a range of 2,800 nm at 7 knots. Other engine possibilities include Cummins and MAN diesels from 220- to 800-hp each.

Specs.: LOA: 69’6”; Beam: 17’7”; Draft: 5’0”; Disp.: 100,060 lbs.; Fuel: 1,717 gals.; Water: 343 gals.; Power: 2×330-hp John Deere. Read more:
