Built in Sweden, the Windy SR44 is being introduced to the United States at the Fort Lauderdale boat show by Nautical Ventures, its distributor here.

The Windy SR44 is already a success in Europe. Indeed, it was nominated for a European Boat of the Year Award last year.

It’s easy to see why the Windy, a super-modern, high-performance, luxury sports yacht, is a standout that will turn heads on both sides of the Atlantic. With its precision handling, super-sized sun lounges and accommodations for four below, it is just as appealing for a weekend cruise in the Bahamas as it is for a picnic in the Med.

Windy offers the SR44 with many custom touches. Owners can choose several color schemes, for example, including a lacquered hull finish to make the boat even more special. They also can order an entertainment center next to the swim platform fitted out with a fridge and barbeque and other accessories, even though an outdoor galley is under the hardtop just aft of the helm.

The boat’s large teak swim platform can be lowered hydraulically into the water, and the aft sun pad can be lifted up to provide space to stow a dinghy. The aft-facing sun pad offer a major social area, and there’s U-shaped seating around a high-low table on the aft deck.

The helm has three seats facing a Volvo glass cockpit with a 17-inch Garmin MFD screen. To make boat handling easy, the Windy has a bow thruster and a Humphree Interceptor auto trim tab system. Forward, guests enjoying the large sun pad are protected by the Windy’s high bulwarks.

Below, a galley is on the port side, and the master cabin is forward with a berth for two and natural light streaming in from the side windows. It also has a seat so you don’t have to bend down to put on your boat shoes. The second cabin, with two berths, is tucked under the helm. There’s one head, with a large separate shower.
