Sunseeker To Launch New Predator 65

Sunseeker plans to launch its new Predator 65 at the big Düsseldorf show in January. The sleek, low-profile Predator 65 has the same layout and hull as the Predator 65 Sport Yacht, but it does not have the Sport Yacht’s flybridge. Sunseeker expects to sell about equal numbers of both versions.

The new Predator is distinguished by an aggressive, raked front windshield and large carbon fiber and glass sunroof that slides back to reveal a sizable opening over the helm and salon. The result is a bright, airy salon, with an aft galley that can also serve the aft deck.

The yacht also has highly styled side windows in the  hull that almost suggest a slash; they certainly indicate forward movement.

This latest Predator is a three-cabin, three-head cruiser powered by standard twin 900-hp Volvo IPS1200 pod drives. Top speed is about 30 knots, and the yacht has a range of 275 nm at 23 knots; dial back to 7.5 knots and the range expands to 945 nm. With larger 1,000-hp Volvo IPS1350 engines, the top speed goes up to 35 knots.

The Predator 65 should be fun to drive; the line is marked by its maneuverability and sporty handling. And even without the flybridge, it has plenty of indoor and outdoor spaces for relaxing and entertaining.

The aft cockpit has a large sun pad over the garage and seating and a table along the transom, with a bar and stools on the port side. The garage is large enough to hold an 11’ 3” Williams 345 jet tender launched with new diagonal sliding over the hydraulic swim platform. Without the tender, that area can be configured as a beach club with a flush deck and free-standing furniture; it even has a rain shower. Up front, the foredeck has more seating with sun pads.

Below, the owner’s stateroom is amidships, with a VIP cabin in the bow and a guest cabin with a twin bed is on the starboard side between the other two. The owner’s suite can be set up at a Grand Master with a vanity/study area, or in a slightly reduced size with the vanity area turned into a utility room.

Predator is one of Sunseeker’s most successful lines. Sunseeker has sold almost 1,200 Predators since the line was introduced at the London boat show in 1994.
