CL Yachts has just launched its innovative, prize-winning CLX96 in Hong Kong, and it’s meant to have the luxurious conveniences of a contemporary flybridge motoryacht with the offshore capabilities of an expedition yacht.

The CLX96 is the first in the company‘s line of Sea Activity Vessels, with a larger-than-usual amount of interior volume for comfortable living. It also is the first yacht ever designed by Jozeph Forakis from Milan and New York. The yard said it turned to Forakis to bring a “rebel’s insight” into the 96’s lines, and he said he was inspired by the New York City loft where he was born.

Forakis started out doing light and set design for New York theaters, and now has his own design firm specializing in the high-tech and biomedical sectors. He said he worked on a futuristic design for the CLX96 to create “a vessel to transport you through time and space.” In any event, the yacht has already won an International Yacht & Aviation Award.

One of the most intriguing design elements on the new CLX96 is the “Terrazza Portoghese” up top, just forward of the sky lounge, a social area with unobstructed, commanding views and sun pads for relaxing.

The main deck has three different living spaces: a galley forward, a main dining area in the middle and a comfortable salon aft, with wide doors opening to the cockpit.

On the lower accommodations deck, the master stateroom is all the way forward, taking advantage of the yacht’s wide bow area (the beam is 24 feet). The bed faces forward, and a head is all the way forward. Two cabins plus a luxurious VIP cabin are amidships; a crew cabin sleeping four is aft.

The yacht is powered by t win CAT C32 engines, producing  a top speed of 27 knots.

CL Yachts is the luxury brand from Cheoy Lee Shipyards, which has been building ships and yachts in Hong Kong for five generations. Read more at http://clyachts.com and see the launch video below:
