Vicem, the high-end Turkish builder, just delivered its first 82-foot cold-molded cruiser, the flagship of its Classic line. The three-stateroom, three-head beauty, with its Down East looks, is powered by two 900-hp Volvo diesels; it hit a top speed of 17.8 knots and a cruising speed of 15 knots in its first sea trial. The Vicem 82 has a range of 1,100 nm at 9 knots.

Since it is cold molded with mahogany wood, Vicem is able to customize the interior of the yacht to meet each owner’s specifications. The interior uses book-matched mahogany veneers and premium joinery. The semi-displacement hull has hard chines; Vicem says it’s strong, relatively light and quiet, in comparison with traditional fiberglass hulls. The mahogany is backed by Akzo Nobel International epoxy.

The new three-deck 82 has a mix of exterior entertaining and living spaces for its owners and guests, including the flybridge, foredeck and cockpit. The flybridge has an upper helm, a U-shaped settee and a console with a wine chiller, sink and barbeque. The foredeck offers a sun pad plus twin seating toward the bow.

The cockpit is made for entertaining large groups, with a pair of large L-shaped settees facing each other and various optional dining tables. The galley is down, so the salon gains space with a long straight settee and L-shaped settee. The salon and the cockpit are on the same level, separated by double sliding doors. Vicem says the cockpit and salon can seat 20 people, all told.

Below, the master stateroom is full beam amidships with a centered, king-sized bed, exceptional storage space, a settee to port and a vanity to starboard. The VIP cabin in the bow has a queen-sized bed with walk-around space, and the third stateroom between the two is a bit smaller. All of them have en suite heads and showers.

A fully-equipped, three-person crew quarters, with a private galley, head, shower and a Garmin electronics suite, is all the way aft. The new 82 is built to offer the owner the flexibility to run the boat him/herself or let the crew do it.
