New Walker Bay 525: A RIB with Style

Walker Bay is showing its line of luxury RIBs at the Miami show, including the new Generation 525 DLX RIB, with elegant styling and deep-V handling. You can see the Walker Bays in the water at the Sea Isle Marina or on land at the Miami Convention Center.

Walker Bay makes several series of RIBs, both open and center console models, from eight to 21 feet. At 17’ 2”, the 525 DLX is the flagship of the Generation series, which starts at 11’ 3”. The 525 can hold up to ten people, and up to a 115-hp outboard.

The boat itself weighs just 1,160 pounds, and it has a deep-V hull for superior boat handling, even at high speeds, in rough water. A customized gas tank in the bow section of the keel moves weight forward to reduce impact and to help with fast planing. Concave chines help to deflect water down and reduce spray.

It makes use of Walker Bay’s polyurethane composite micro stringer system, which is lighter and stronger than wood, to provide a smooth ride and permanent positive floatation. The hull and deck are bonded together. The RIB has five chambers.

The 525 can be used as a yacht tender, a sport boat or as a dink. It has a spacious interior cockpit so it can hold a large crew comfortably.

It comes with hydraulic tilt steering and a 13-inch wheel, port and starboard boarding steps, a boarding ladder, removable leaning post, a fresh-water shower with a ten-gallon capacity, and two insulated-cooler lockers. A deluxe sun pad on the bow is optional; so is a Sunbrella boat cover.

Walker Bay was started in 1997. With headquarters in Yakima, Washington, it has delivered more than 100,000 RIBs to 50 countries around the world; it’s won many awards for innovation and design.
