Ferretti Group Uses AI To Avoid Collisions

During the Miami boat show, the Ferretti Group announced that it will offer an innovative “Watchit” system on all its boats, a new technology that combines artificial intelligence with state-of-the-art sensors to avoid collisions at sea.

Watchit is a new system patented by Aqua Marine Tech, an Israeli company that develops advanced high-tech solutions for saving lives at sea. On boats, the idea is that Watchit warns captains of dangers ahead.

The Watchit system processes data from existing onboard sensors along with data from charts, using AI and automatic learning algorithms to constantly assess the risk of collisions and to issue real-time warnings to captains in time to avoid them.

“Watchit is a highly innovative system that Ferretti Group will adopt on an exclusive basis,” said Alberto Galassi, CEO of the Ferretti Group. “With this new technology, the owners, captains and crews of our fleet know they can count on an unparalleled standard of safety.”

Amir Eyal, founder of Aqua Marine Tech, said, “We decided to take up this challenge to leave our mark on the yachting sector by making navigation more of a  pleasure, by reducing pointless and expensive damage, and above all by raising safety standards to save lives at sea.”

The Ferretti Group, based in Italy, includes Ferretti Yachts, Riva, Pershing, Wally, Itama, CRN and Custom Line. The 62-foot, 48-knot Pershing 6x is pictured at top. Read more:
