If you really want to make an entrance, or just turn heads everywhere you go, take a look at the J Craft 42 Torpedo that just made its U.S. debut at the Palm Beach show.

Made in Sweden and powered by Volvo IPS drives, this Swedish beauty is a combination of meticulous craftsmanship and modern technology. Each boat takes 8,500 man hours to make; the mahogany deck has 18 coats of lacquer and varnish before it leaves the factory floor.

J Craft boats are made on the island of Gotland, by descendants of Vikings of ancient lore. King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden commissioned the first J Craft boat in 1999, a 38-foot Polaris model that is said to be the king’s choice when he’s cruising the Med. Since then, J Craft has built 26 more boats, including 19 42-foot Torpedoes.

Reminiscent of Riva’s glamorous Aquarama, the J Craft Torpedo has a leather-lined cabin below with two staterooms for four people.  It can hold ten people up top, with many of them relaxing on the large sun pad aft.

The main deck has a fridge, ice-maker, induction stove and Nardi steering wheel at the helm. Optional glassware and china are available; so is cutlery designed by Sweden’s Prince Carl Philip Bernadotte.

The main deck is protected by a standard Bimini, with an option to extend it over the sun pad. You also can order a cabrio cover for when the weather is really bad. A Seakeeper gyro stabilizer is another option.
