It catches your eye by day, but the Absolute 60 Fly is simply stunning at night, when all the light from the windows all around, even in the large cutouts in the hull forward and amidships, show their stuff. Absolute calls the new Fly line Prisma, or prism, and the name is certainly appropriate, given the combination of light and space throughout the yacht.
The 60 Fly is designed for an owner-operator, and it’s powered by twin 725-hp Volvo IPS950 pod drives, with fingertip joystick control. Absolutes also have Volvo’s Assisted Docking system that coordinates GPS and sensors to make docking even easier. The 60 cruises at 20 knots and tops out at 29 knots.
The yacht has three cabins for six people below, which all benefit from the huge windows there. Absolute is an Italian builder, so there also is a crew cabin for two, with a head, accessible from the transom. If you don’t want crew, that space can be used for extra storage (unless you have children who want to bunk there).
The window theme extends all the way aft, where a window in the transom lets you keep track of the water sports activity on the extra-long swim platform, or just take in the water view. It also helps with stern-to docking. You can rearrange the furniture on the aft deck, to look aft at the sunset, perhaps, or forward for dining al fresco.
A wide glass door opens to the salon, surrounded by windows. There’s even an opening window forward on the port side, opposite a door next to the helm that opens to the starboard deck; open the window and the door for a fresh cross breeze.
Up top, the furniture on the flybridge is modular and can be rearranged. It has a wet bar with a Corian counter and an upper helm station. There are 1.5kW solar panels on the hardtop, providing house power (except for air conditioning) if you want to anchor out.
Below, the owner’s stateroom is full-beam forward on a raised deck level to take advantage of the extra volume and large windows. A large stowage area is underneath.
The VIP cabin is amidships to starboard, and there’s a third cabin, a double, for guests or kids to port. All the cabins have en suite heads. And all the doors below are sliding doors to make efficient use of space.
