New Intermarine 24M Sets New Bar

Intermarine, the large Brazilian builder, has unveiled its sleek, new 81-foot luxury motoryacht that takes the trend of creating onboard beach clubs and balconies to a new level.

The new yacht, called the Intermarine 24M, was designed by Luiz de Basto, of DeBasto Designs in Miami, who specializes in creating graceful large yachts. With the Intermarine 24M, he succeeded, since the side and aft terraces, even when deployed, don’t seem to interrupt the sweeping lines of the yacht. They do, however, create lots more usable space for everyone on board.

The new Intermarine carries the fairly conventional low profile of a modern motoryacht, with a raked windshield, large curving windows in the salon, low-set flybridge, and lots of space on the foredeck for sunning and relaxing.

But push some buttons and a terrace folds out from the starboard side of the salon, accessed through a glass door. It’s substantial enough to hold two chairs and a table, and it’s protected by high railings so no one will fall overboard. Then additional balconies fold out from the sides of the aft deck to create a large social space there; the swim platform can be lowered for access to water sports.

The Intermarine 24M is not without the normal, upscale yacht amenities. There’s a large Jacuzzi on the flybridge, for example, surrounded by sun pads with a bar and dining table nearby.

Below, the yacht has four large staterooms, with en suite heads, for eight guests. But the company, which has been in business near São Paolo since 1973, can customize the accommodations to fit a new owner’s plans.

The yacht is powered by twin 1,800-hp MAN diesels, producing a top speed of 30 knots and a cruising speed of 24 knots.

Intermarine yachts are sold in the U.S. by HMY.
