Williams Jet Tenders will launch its new 16-foot Dieseljet 505 with an optional SOLAS certification at the Monaco Yacht Show, starting Sept. 28. The new luxury RIB has been modified to meet all the stringent requirements of SOLAS (Safety of Life at Sea).

SOLAS-certified tenders are considered the gold standard in rescue vessels, and they’re a legal requirement for yachts over 500GT. The new Williams Dieseljet with the SOLAS option is capable of towing life rafts, serving as a man-overboard recovery boat or functioning in many other emergency situations.

Matthew Hornsby, the commercial director for Williams Jet Tenders, says, “Not only does the Dieseljet 505 look superb, but it is now available with all the capabilities of a SOLAS rescue boat, making it an even more attractive proposition for yacht owners looking for a high-performing luxury tenders.”

Williams worked with Lloyds Register to get the SOLAS certification for the tender, using Lloyds’ rigorous testing, including an almost 20-foot drop test, a self-righting test, overload lifting, and endurance and heavy-weather trials.

Power comes from a standard 110-hp Yanmar diesel, producing a top speed of 40 mph. The SOLAS version of the 505 can carry five people, plus a stretcher, and it is outfitted with high-visibility orange panels and reflective tape. It also has a high-intensity flashing beacon, an integrated lifeline rope on the inflatable tubes, and a quick-release back seat.

Like the standard version of the 505, it is highly maneuverable and achieves stability from the centrally mounted engine and low-sitting tubes. If offers safe and comfortable boarding from multiple platforms and poles.
