Sunreef says it will launch its new, luxurious and fully customizable 70 Power Catamaran at the Cannes Yachting Festival, starting Sept. 6.
The massive new 70, which can hold 20 people on its main deck, is the latest in the Polish builder’s power range, which now runs from 60 to 100 feet. The builder of innovative power and sail catamarans, Sunreef is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year.
The new 70 has a beam of more than 37 feet, so there’s simply a vast amount of usable space on the main deck and the flybridge. The salon, with windows all around, blends seamlessly into the aft deck, which is protected by the overhang from the flybridge up top.
The salon Is virtually a large square area, with a companionway leading to the accommodations deck below in each corner. The galley can be there, in an open plan, or below. If it’s below, the salon has a super-sized L-shaped sofa on the port side and seating and lounging areas placed throughout. The foredeck comes with a terrace and various sun lounging areas.
The flybridge is also a virtually square area, protected by a hard top with an opening sun roof. It’s large enough for a spa pool, bar, dining area and oversized sun pads, plus the upper helm.
Below, the basic plans call for four or five staterooms, with the owner’s cabin in the starboard hull. Optional crew cabins, a double and a single, are in the bows. In another layout, the galley and crew quarters are placed aft, accessible from the aft deck for privacy.
The 70 has a large, hydraulic swim platform between the two hulls, with a large garage for a dink and jet ski.
Sunreef hasn’t released performance figures yet, but with twin 850-hp diesels the new 70 will probably cruise in the mid-teens and top out in the low 20-knots areas.
