Fairline, the major British builder, is making an all-new Squadron 58 cruiser. It will be the first Fairline with balconies that drop down from the sides of the yacht and a large beach club aft.

The forward rake of the hardtop over the flybridge gives the new Fairline a sporty look that carries over to its performance. With standard 900-hp Volvo diesels with straight shafts, the Squadron 58 should top out at more than 30 knots and cruise at about 26 knots. Twin 1,000-hp Volvos are optional.

The new Squadron 58 replaces the Squadron 53, and it’s scheduled to be launched in November. The yacht has a standard three-stateroom, two-head layout on the accommodation deck below.

The salon has a galley-aft arrangement with wing-like balconies that drop down from both sides at the touch of a button. The balcony on the port side has sockets to fit a pair of stools, with dropdown glazing aft so that the galley countertop can double as a bar.

On the aft deck, you can have a fixed or a high-low swim platform that’s large enough for an 11’ 3” Williams 345 jet tender. In the optional Beach Club Package, the aft deck has modular furniture that you can move to face forward or aft, a fiberglass transom and a larger hydraulic swim platform that extends 3’ 3” from the base of the transom; the transom can be submerged for water sports. There’s another large social and sunbathing area on the foredeck.

The flybridge has a large sun pad aft, a wet bar, lounge seating, a hardtop with a sunroof and wrap-around glazing. Both the upper and lower helm stations have pilot and co-pilot seats.

Below, the master stateroom is full-beam amidships with an en suite head. A VIP cabin is forward; it shares the second head with a smaller cabin on the starboard side. There’s also a small crew cabin, or extra storage area, at the stern with a door on the transom.

The Squadron 58 has an LOA of 58’ 11”; beam of 16’ 4”, and a draft of 4’ 10”. Read more:
