Long Island Yachts says its Dutch-made 33 Runabout that will make its U.S. debut at the Newport show, starting Sept. 15, is a modern version of traditional Downeast boat.

And it has the classic lines of luxury runabouts made there, with a low profile, long sheerline, even a beautiful tumblehome. But the Long Island 33 Runabout isn’t made in Southwest Harbor, Maine, or even on Long Island. It’s built at the Long Island Yachts yard n Hofweg, a bit north of The Haag in The Netherlands.

The Long Island 33 will be displayed at the Newport, Rhode Island, show by The Fog Warning, which is located at Westhampton Beach, on New York’s Long Island. The runabout is entered in the Newport for New Products competition, open to boats (made anywhere in the world) making a U.S. debut at the show. Other entries include the Sabre 43 Salon Express, the 46-foot MJM 4, Hood 35 by Lyman-Morse, and the hybrid Solace 30.

Long Island Yachts makes a series of Runabout boats, a 25, 29, 33, and 40. So far, Long Island has made about 100 boats, sold around the world. Its website says they have “family-friendly layouts, top-notch engineering, and superb fit and finish.”

The company says the 33 “is the ultimate gentleman’s yacht,” and its elegant lines “create a statement of style and class.” The boat also was designed for the North Sea, with a full keel and a protected skeg to protect against grounding, even at 30 knots, the company says.

The helm is notable for a modern/retro look, and a combination of teak and stainless steel. The wheel is stainless, and the analog gauges, framed by stainless, are set in to a teak dash.

Below, two people can sleep on a V berth. There’s a small galley to port, and a head, with a teak door, to starboard.

The company says you can order the 33 with several diesel options, ranging from a single 195-hp Yanmar to a 370-hp Yanmar, producing a top speed of 32 knots.

Specs.: LOA: 32’8”; Beam: 9’3”; Draft: 2’4”; Disp.: 7.000 lbs.; Fuel: 79 gals.; Water: NA; Power: 1×195-hp Yanmar to 1×370-hp Yanmar diesels. Read more:
