Iguana just announced that it will launch a foiling amphibious boat powered by an Evoy 300-hp electric outboard at the Cannes Yachting Festival, starting Sept. 6. Iguana says it will be the first fully electric amphibious boat. With its retractable foils and tracks, the new Iguana will be able to go on land, sea and, flying a few feet above the surface, on air also.

Iguana, in France, and Evoy, in Norway, have formed a partnership to produce the new electric amphib, called the Iguana Foiler. With its robust surface-piercing foils, the boat reduces its energy consumption by 50 percent, according to Iguana. And with the Evoy electric outboard, it produces no emissions, odors or sound. The boat also is affordable and the outboard is low maintenance, with only four moving parts.

Evoy is known for providing inboard and outboard power for fast boats from 20 to 50 feet. The 300-hp outboard for the Iguana Foiler has flexible charging, including standard AC or fast DC in less than an hour. It weighs just 363 pounds, and comes with a smart display that shows the charging status plus support and maintenance updates. Evoy makes 60-, 120-, and 180-kWh battery packs.

Iguana has been making innovative amphibious boats for the past 14 years. They’re now in use all over the world, and are found on superyachts, waterfront properties, private islands and resorts.

Iguana and Evoy said they would have more details at the Cannes show. Read more at http://iguana-yachts.com and http://evoy.no and see the video of a standard Iguana below:
