Arksen Launching Adventure Boats

Arksen, the new and innovative British builder, just announced that it’s launching two new boats, a 28 and a 30, in its Adventure series. The new boats will make their debut at the Southampton show, starting Sept. 16.

Started just two years ago, Arksen has specialized in making larger expedition and explorer yachts, with models now going up to 85 feet. For the two new smaller models, it formed a partnership with XO Boats, which makes rugged go-anywhere vessels with military-grade aluminum. The boats have deep-V hulls for offshore performance, and they’re powered by twin outboards.

Arksen says the 28 is made for day trips and weekend excursions, often in less-than-ideal conditions. The 30, with sleeping accommodations for four, plus two more in an optional “canvas sleep pod,” is for spending a bit more time on board.

The 30 (pictured here) can hold ten passengers. With twin 250-hp outboards, it has a cruising speed of 25 knots, a top speed of 45 knots, and a range of 230 nm. It offers 360-degree views from the salon and the helm station, and Arksen says it combines tough seakeeping abilities with a soft, comfortable interior.

“The latest models are designed to provide owners the experience of voyages that can discover hidden coves, city explorations by water, and island-hopping galore,” says Dominic Byrne, Arksen’s sales and marketing director.

Arksen is the brainchild of Jasper Smith, a high-tech entrepreneur who founded  Playjam, the world’s largest TV games network. He wanted to build environmentally friendly expedition yachts to take on rough waters anywhere in the world.

Arksen also offers syndicated and boat-club ownership options. “The Adventure Syndicate is designed to provide you with all the good bits of boat ownership, but without the hassle and frustration of paying to own all of a boat that you may not be able to make full use of,” says Byrne.
