MJM was the big winner at the Newport International Boat Show, walking away with two awards (Best Powerboat in the show and Best Powerboat Over 30 Feet), while Sabre won the People’s Choice award for the most popular boat, and the Garmin inReach Mini 2 Marine Bundle won the Best Electronics Award. The Everglades 285cc won in the Best Powerboat Under 30 Feet category.

The awards are for domestic and foreign products launched in the U.S. after April 1, 2022, that made their boat show debuts in Newport. Show attendees selected the People’s Choice Award; all the other awards were selected by a jury of industry veterans based on innovation, value, safety, and aesthetics. Here’s a look at the winners:

MJM 4 (pictured at top), is a totally new luxury day/weekend yacht with what the company calls a Downeast Carolina look and a 46’ 8” LOA and power from two giant 600-hp Mercury Verado outboards for outstanding performance. It has a large, well-equipped cockpit, an open bow with plush seating, and an indoor/outdoor pilothouse that can be open for fresh air or buttoned-up for climate control. It’s a flush deck design, from transom to the helm; the galley is large and up, and the side windows slide open while the front ones have electric controls. Sabre 43 Salon Express, also is an all-new model, replacing the popular Sabre 42. The new Sabre combines the company’s made-in-made Maine, classic Downeast lines with cutting-edge technology; it’s the first Sabre under 58 feet that lets owners check all functions and controls from the helm MFDs or their own iPad Minis. The salon is large, with six-feet-long settees, the galley is half up (or half down), and there’s a hybrid lounge below with two staterooms. Standard power is twin 380-hp Volvo IPS500 pod drives with fingertip joystick control. http://sabreyachts.com

Everglades 285cc offers a smooth ride and intuitive technology in the premium sportfishing category, whether offshore or coastal. It has a large open bow with large upholstered seats, teak accents and in-deck storage. A versatile seat at the helm rotates to face aft, and the Everglades has everything an owner needs for an evening cruises or a competitive blue-water fishing tournament. http://evergladesboats.com

Garmin inReach Mini 2 Marine Bundle is a compact satellite communicator that fits in the palm of your hand and sends and receives text messages and can even trigger an interactive SOS. The new inReach Mini also tracks and logs your location for basic navigation, and you can mount it at the helm for easy access. http://garmin.com
