Gagliotta’s Lobster 35 Heading for U.S.

Cantieri Gagliotta just introduced its Lobster 35, a luxury day boat, at the Cannes Yachting Festival. It’s due to be shown in the U.S. at the Fort Lauderdale show at the end of October.

Gagliotta’s Lobster 35 is just the latest iteration of the worldwide trend to produce contemporary versions of Maine’s iconic lobster boats. The Gagliotta 35 has the look of a lobster yacht, but you’d be hard pressed to find a Maine lobsterman pulling many traps on one.

Gagliotta started making boats in Naples in the 1950s. Since then, it’s produced a series of race boats, fishing boats, cruising boats, and the Lobster 35. The Lauderdale show will be the first time a Gagliotta has been shown in the U.S. The Lobster 35 at the Cannes show had a Ferrari-red paint job; we don’t know what color will be on the boat coming here.

Standard power is a 270-hp Volvo diesel, producing a top speed of 31 knots, and a cruising speed of 26 knots. A 270-hp Mercury diesel is an option.

The lines are clean, with no rails cluttering the deck, the transom is raked, and the profile is low. The hard top over the helm deck has an opening sun roof for light and ventilation.

There’s a sun pad on the foredeck, while the aft deck has a large U-shaped settee against the transom with a removeable table. The galley is up, on the port side of the  helm deck with a cooktop, sink and fridge. The helm seat can hold two on the starboard side. A bow thruster is standard to help with docking.

Below, there’s a V-berth forward and a settee to port. The head, with a pull-out shower, is to starboard.

The boat is finished with a lot of mahogany; the accessories below are in polished steel.

We don’t have any more details at this time.
